A Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit 50p coin has been listed on eBay for £8,086.70.
A Beatrix Potter 50p coin has been listed for sale on eBay for £8,086.70. The Tale of Peter Rabbit coin, released in 2017, is part of the Royal Mint's Beatrix Potter collection and was listed by a seller named Kasac3633.
The coin features an image of Peter Rabbit in his iconic blue coat and was designed by Emma Noble. The reverse carries the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. It was issued for general circulation as well as in collector editions and commemorates Beatrix Potter's story, first published in 1901.
Despite a circulating mintage of around 19.9 million, the coin is highly sought after by collectors due to its connection to one of Britain's most beloved literary characters. The coin is popular among collectors, though it is not considered one of the rarest UK 50p coins.
The high asking price reflects demand from collectors drawn to Beatrix Potter's enduring appeal, though whether the coin will sell at that price remains unclear.
