Malton Coachworks buys premises after 12 years as tenant

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 27 Oct, 10:02 · Archive

Malton Coachworks has purchased the Showfield Lane site it has occupied for twelve years.

Malton Coachworks has bought the Showfield Lane site, which houses its main workshop alongside its parts and accounts departments. The purchase was completed earlier this month following planning that began at the start of the year. The building was previously operated by Falcon Lubricants, founded by Bill and Liz Craven in 1984 and built into a multimillion pound concern before being sold to Millers Oils of Brighouse in 2009.

Malton Coachworks was established in 2009 as a sister company to Classic & Sportscar Centre, founded in 1991, to provide independent garage support. The business has grown from eight staff to more than fifty employees. It operates a workshop, bodyshop, trim shop, parts department, fabrication unit and training academy, specialising in Jaguar, MG, Austin Healey and Aston Martin vehicles, with experience across more than one hundred marques.

CEO James Szkiler said: 'This is a landmark moment for Malton Coachworks. We have worked from this building for 12 years, and owning it means we are putting down permanent roots in Malton.' He added: 'Bill and Liz built a successful business here, and it means a great deal to us that the building passes from one Malton business to another.'

Ownership will enable an extensive refurbishment programme. Work will begin with the roof and cladding in 2027, followed by a renovation of the interior with new offices and reception area.
