Cardiff face West Ham amid mounting injury crisis

Cardiff City are depleted by injuries ahead of Wednesday's match against West Ham, with fresh fitness concerns over three more players.
Cardiff City's injury crisis has worsened following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Wolves. Manager Brian Barry-Murphy revealed fresh fitness concerns over defenders Will Fish and Perry Ng, and midfielder Alex Robertson, compounding an already significant injury list.
Cardiff were already missing centre backs Dylan Lawlor, Callum Chambers and Krystian Bielik, plus suspended Gabriel Osho. The depleted defensive resources forced Barry-Murphy to deploy emergency full-backs during the Wolves match: winger Ollie Tanner played left-back and midfielder Joel Colwill filled in at right-back, while Ng was pressed into action at centre-half despite his own fitness struggles.
Barry-Murphy acknowledged the severity of the situation, saying: 'I think we spoke earlier in the season when four of our centre-backs were injured, and I incorrectly presumed that could never happen again. But it has.' He praised his makeshift defenders' efforts, describing them as having 'given it everything' despite the demanding circumstances.
Cardiff face West Ham at home on Wednesday with the prospect of fielding another improvised backline. Lawlor and Chambers are expected to remain sidelined until after the November international break.
