A 30km charity hike across the Shropshire Hills raised more than £2,100 for Black2Nature.
A 30km charity hike organised by biodiversity specialist Environment Bank has raised more than £2,100 for Black2Nature. The Environment Bank Challenge took place across the Shropshire Hills and Long Mynd on Saturday, September 5, with 15 team members taking part.
The money raised will support Black2Nature's work connecting young people from minority ethnic backgrounds with nature through outdoor learning and nature-based experiences. This is the second year Environment Bank has organised a fundraiser for Black2Nature, bringing the total raised for the charity to more than £4,500.
Nick Jarman, Interim Head of Habitat Creation and Interim Head of PMO at Environment Bank, said the day supported 'such an important cause'. He noted that 'nature recovery is about more than restoring habitats' and is 'also about helping people build meaningful connections with nature and ensuring the next generation feels inspired to protect and care for the environment'. Ayesha Ahmed-Mendoza, programme manager at Black2Nature, said the funds would support the charity's trips and outdoor visits for young people.
