The investigation established that excise duty of £1,218.85 had been evaded.
Karimy pleaded guilty to all offences and was ordered to pay nearly £900 in fines and costs. Mohammed also pleaded guilty to all offences but sentencing was adjourned and he will reappear at court on 27 November. The court heard that Mohammed had previously faced enforcement action for tobacco offences elsewhere, including the seizure of 18,000 illegal cigarettes from his shop in Bangor in December 2022.
