Borderway Agri Expo 2026 will take place on 30 October at Borderway Mart in Carlisle, attracting breeders and exhibitors from across the country. The event brings together commercial cattle and sheep competitions with seven national calf shows. Cumbrian participants will include R Hall & Son of Inglewood Edge, Dalston; Slack & Haughan of Plum Tree House, Newby; IK & AM Grisedale of Greenmount Farm, Crooklands; and T & E Ellis from Woodside, New Hutton.

Laura Millar, event organiser for Agri Expo, said the exhibitors from across the UK bring 'tremendous quality to the judging rings' and their support is important to the event's success. She noted that for visitors it is 'a chance to assess breeding stock, meet specialists and discuss decisions affecting their businesses'.

This year's event will feature a national seminar at 1.30pm in Ring Four addressing key issues in the beef and sheep sectors. The discussion will explore whether the greatest pressures on producers stem from imports or domestic factors. The panel will include Phil Stocker, chief executive of the National Sheep Association; Robert Martin, national chair of the Tenant Farmers Association; and James Playfair-Hannay, a livestock farmer from Morebattle Tofts, Kelso.

Millar said the seminar will give producers 'an opportunity to hear informed views on the challenges ahead and contribute their own experiences'.

Judging panels will feature respected names from across the UK, including Boomer Birch of the Sky High Hereford and Boomer British Blue herds for commercial cattle, and Balfour Baillie of Sebay View Farm in Orkney for baby beef. The event is organised by H+H Livestock.
