Veeno, an Italian wine bar serving Sicilian wines and traditional dishes, has opened in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
Veeno, an Italian wine bar serving family-produced Sicilian wines and traditional dishes, opened its doors at the Treadmills development in Northallerton on 15 October following a launch event attended by the Mayor and local business community. The venue is owned by husband and wife Chris and Sherryl Fernandes and marks Veeno's first North Yorkshire location, creating around ten jobs.
The bar serves Italian dishes, sharing platters, pasta, pinsa flatbreads and desserts alongside a wine menu focused on Sicilian bottles. Its signature tiramisu is made from Veeno founder Nino Caruso's grandmother's original recipe. Wine is at the heart of the business, with bottles sourced from the Caruso family's Caruso & Minini vineyard and winery in Marsala, on Sicily's west coast. The vineyard has been in the Caruso family for four generations and inspired Nino to launch Veeno in Manchester in 2013.
Mr Fernandes said the venue had received overwhelming support from residents. He commented: 'Northallerton is a brilliant town with a really strong sense of community, and the support we've received from local businesses and residents has been incredible.'
