Hampshire opens primary school applications for September 2027

Hampshire parents can now apply for primary school places in September 2027 for Reception or Year 3 transfer, with a deadline of 15 January.

Applications are now open for primary school places in Hampshire for September 2027. Parents and carers can apply for children starting Reception or transferring to Year 3 at a junior school.

Families are strongly advised to name three schools in order of preference. Doing so gives the admissions team more options if a place cannot be offered at the first-preference school. Over the past six years, 97 per cent of children have been offered a place at one of their three preferred schools, with 90 to 94 per cent receiving their first choice.

Cllr Juliet Henderson, Hampshire County Council's executive member for education, said: 'Choosing a school is an important decision for every family. Listing three preferences gives parents the best chance of receiving an offer from one of the schools they have chosen.'

Parents are encouraged to check their catchment school, review admissions policies and consider previous admissions data before applying. Including the catchment school is especially important if transport assistance might be needed.

Applications must be submitted by 15 January 2027. Cllr Henderson urged families to 'look carefully at the admissions information for each school, include their catchment school where appropriate, and submit their application by 15 January'. Applicants who apply on time will receive their school offer on 16 April 2027, National Offer Day.
