Whitehaven couple's haunted house raises funds for animal rescue

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 25 Oct, 06:02 · Archive

A Whitehaven couple's Halloween display at their home in Mirehouse raises money for Kenzie's K9's Animal Search and Rescue.

Sarah Morley and her husband Ricky, from Whitehaven, have decorated their house at 315 Meadow Road in Mirehouse as a haunted display to raise money for Kenzie's K9's Animal Search and Rescue. After receiving requests to collect donations for their display last year, they decided to do so this year and asked residents on a Mirehouse community Facebook page to choose a local charity to support.

The couple have been decorating their home since October 1, a process involving hours of painting alongside their jobs. They are still adding final touches until Halloween, including trick or treat bags for visitors. Photo opportunities are available outside the house, and visitors can take a photo with 'Trick or Treat Pete' at a homemade ticket booth for a donation. The ticket booth took five days to build.

Sarah said: 'We have tried to go bigger and better this year to collect donations to help this amazing charity' and 'I just really enjoy seeing everyone's faces when they come on Halloween for some treats and frights.' The couple are already planning next year's display with the aim of expanding further. A Go Fund Me page is available for those unable to attend but still wishing to donate.
