Leeds Bradford Airport contributes £737 million to Yorkshire's economy each year and supports more than 9,100 jobs, according to a new independent economic assessment. The report was launched at a stakeholder event in Leeds attended by West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin and regional leaders from business, government and academia.
The report, titled Driving West Yorkshire's Economy, describes the airport as one of Yorkshire's most significant economic assets. It highlights the airport's role in supporting business productivity, international trade and tourism. The airport generates an estimated £129 million in business productivity and supports around 750 jobs in West Yorkshire. Tourism linked to the airport contributes £75 million and supports 2,840 jobs.
In 2025, Leeds Bradford Airport handled nearly 4.5 million passengers, with ambitions to grow to around seven million in the early 2030s. Airport CEO Vincent Hodder said the report demonstrates the airport is 'far more than a transport hub' and represents 'vital economic infrastructure'. He stated that 'improving connectivity to the airport is one of the most important opportunities we have to unlock further economic growth' and expressed support for the proposed LBA Parkway Station.
