TO COMMEMORATE next year’s 1,000th anniversary of the legendary King Cnut’s pilgrimage through County Durham, villagers in Trimdon – where he stopped to trim his hair and don his cloak – are raising money to recreate a landmark wooden cross that would have stood in the king’s day.
