According to Cumbria Tourism's 2024 economic impact research, the Lake District's visitor economy was worth £4.6 billion and supported 74,823 jobs, representing 28 per cent of the county's workforce. While summer remains the busiest period, 38.9 per cent of tourism revenue in 2024 was generated outside the peak months, up from 36.1 per cent in 2023.
The campaign to grow off-season tourism is backed by Cumbria Tourism's Let's Go Autumn/Winter Campaign for 2026–27, which encourages visitors to experience the region during the quieter months. Overnight visitors continue to drive much of the economic benefit, accounting for 52 per cent of total tourism revenue in 2024.
