Manchester City's manager Enzo Maresca has expressed complete trust in the club's ownership after it was found guilty of breaking Premier League financial rules.

Manchester City has been found guilty of breaking Premier League financial rules in the biggest scandal in the competition's history. An independent panel determined that the United Arab Emirates-backed club committed almost all of the 115-plus violations it was accused of during a period when City transformed English football. The violations included artificially inflating the club's revenue by more than $1 billion to finance major player signings.

Manager Enzo Maresca defended the club's ownership at his first news conference since the findings were published. 'I completely trust the club in this moment, in the future, always,' Maresca said. 'The reason why I joined this club is because I completely trust 100% the owner, the CEO, the sports director, all the organization, so I don't have any doubt about that.' He dismissed suggestions that the verdict had tainted City's unprecedented dominance.

City has always denied the charges and has lodged an appeal. Maresca said he would prefer to discuss the matter once the appeal process concludes. He made the comments ahead of City's Premier League match with Liverpool at Anfield.
