Plans have been lodged with Wiltshire Council to build a Men's Shed at Pewsey Vale School in Pewsey.

Plans have been lodged with Wiltshire Council for a Men's Shed at Pewsey Vale School in Wilcot Road, Pewsey. The proposed facility would occupy 60 square metres of undeveloped lawn within the comprehensive school's grounds.

Men's Sheds are community workshops where people gather to meet, socialise and take part in practical projects. The UK Men's Sheds Association, the national support body for the movement, says such facilities encourage people to 'make, repair and repurpose' while supporting their communities. According to the association, the movement can improve wellbeing and reduce loneliness and social isolation, with more than 1,000 open Sheds now operating across the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands.

A 2024 survey by the UK Men's Sheds Association found that among men who joined a local Men's Shed, 96 per cent said they felt less lonely, 89 per cent were less depressed, 75 per cent reported decreased anxiety, and 97 per cent made more friends. Eighty-eight per cent said they felt more connected to their community. Twenty-five per cent of Sheds said they believed they had saved the life of a participant.
