Sainsbury's opened a new supermarket on Foundry Lane in Burnham on 29 October, creating 30 jobs.

Sainsbury's opened its new Foundry Lane supermarket in Burnham on 29 October, creating 30 jobs and welcoming former East of England Co-op employees to the team. The store offers the full Sainsbury's range of fresh food, along with click-and-collect services for Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing. Customers can use the Nectar loyalty scheme from day one.

Ahead of the opening, store manager Jo Bojas said: 'It's been great getting to know Burnham over the last few months and we can't wait to open our doors and start welcoming shoppers in.' He added that significant work had gone on behind the scenes to prepare the store.

Sainsbury's supported the local community ahead of the opening through free drop-in sessions, a social supermarket in partnership with Maldon and District CVS, and sponsorship of the Burnham Carnival. The first 500 customers through the doors received a limited-edition canvas bag featuring artwork created by pupils from St Mary's Primary School and Burnham Primary School. The opening follows a Sainsbury's launch in Brightlingsea last summer, also on a former Co-op site.
