Double Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones has invested millions in York-based CBD wellness company HempWell through her fitness brand JJ Double Gold.

Double Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones has announced a multi-million-pound investment in York-based CBD wellness company HempWell. The Flintshire-born taekwondo star, who won Olympic gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016, is making the investment through JJ Double Gold, the fitness and recovery brand she co-founded with technology entrepreneur Richard Groves in July 2026. The phased investment is planned over the next three years.

The deal will support HempWell's expansion whilst allowing JJ Double Gold to enter new markets, including the supply of natural CBD-based vitamins, minerals and wellness products. HempWell was founded in York in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Phil James and Lisa McWilliams, initially supplying CBD products to help manage arthritis before expanding into a wider range of wellness products.

Jade, who was awarded an OBE for services to taekwondo, said there is growing consumer demand for ethically sourced, effective wellness products. She noted her experience using natural nutrients throughout her Olympic and current boxing career, saying she understands the benefits they provide in supporting performance and recovery. She expressed excitement about being part of HempWell's journey to take the business to the next level.
