A 57-year-old Scarborough man has been jailed for 29 weeks for harassing a teenage boy while breaching a sexual risk order.
Paul Davey, 57, of Scarborough, has been jailed for 29 weeks after appearing at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on 29 October. He pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual risk order and harassment without violence.
North Yorkshire Police found 500 images of the teenage boy on Davey's phone, as well as a printed image of the boy 'stuck to a chair' in Davey's bedroom. Officers said Davey followed the boy for months, driving alongside him as he walked along the street, on occasions filming him and slowing his car down so the victim had to walk past it. 'He knew the routes the victim would take, and despite the victim changing his routes, Davey still found him,' a police spokesperson said.
Davey had carried out the acts whilst under a sexual risk order that prevented him from contacting anyone under 18 directly or indirectly. Detective Constable Jack McCabe said the victim was 'frightened and distressed by Davey's actions, which effected his day-to-day life'. McCabe added that the court's decision reflected 'the seriousness of those breaches'.
