Essex's first Lego store opens at Lakeside on November 5

Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 15 Oct, 13:58 · Archive

Essex's first Lego store opens at Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock on November 5. The 217-square-metre store is the brand's 23rd in the UK and its first in Essex. It will occupy a unit on the centre's first floor and offer sets, gifts and activities for builders.

Visitors will be able to try play tables, use the pick and build wall and create figures at a build-a-minifigure tower. The shop will have interactive experiences and displays, exclusive sets and new releases. Staff will help customers choose sets, whilst free building events will form part of the store's programme. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.

The opening comes as Lakeside Shopping Centre undergoes a major investment programme. More than £100 million has been invested at the centre during the past three years in new shops, refits and upgraded retail experiences. Further funding has supported improvements to interiors, public areas and the wider visitor experience.

Several brands have opened at Lakeside this year, including Hollister, Urban Outfitters, Bershka and Oliver Bonas. Lefties, an Inditex-owned Primark rival, is due to open its second UK shop at the centre this autumn. Family-owned frozen yoghurt business Frurt is also set to open there.

The investment strategy aims to attract younger shoppers, increase the time visitors spend at Lakeside and expand its fashion, leisure and lifestyle offer. The centre is seeking to become a super-regional destination for people across the South East. Work has included the redevelopment of Brompton Arcade for independent Essex businesses, creative brands and experiential operators.
