Ronan Keating says live music cannot be recreated in an age of artificial intelligence and digital technology.
Ronan Keating has highlighted the importance of live music in an age of advancing technology. The Irish pop star will headline Colchester's Lower Castle Park on 21 August 2027 as part of the Colchester Castle Summer Series. When asked about rumoured fees in excess of £100,000 for the performance, he declined to comment.
Keating spoke passionately about live performance in an increasingly digital world. He said: 'Live music is more important now today than it ever has been. With what's going on in technology, with AI, it's very easy to create something that's watchable, listenable, in your bedroom. Live music is something that can't be recreated.'
Keating also reflected on his 30-year career and the enduring appeal of his debut solo hit When You Say Nothing at All, which featured in the 1999 film Notting Hill. He described himself as fortunate to have been chosen to provide the song for Richard Curtis's romantic comedy, comparing it to other iconic films from that era including Love Actually, The Holiday and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
