Basford spent 33 years in banking before joining accountancy firm BDO. In 2018, he set up the Business Growth Coaches Network, which now has about 35 coaches across the country supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. He also launched Innovation Labs Group in Stowmarket. FIPS launched in Ipswich in 2017 following the success of a similar organisation, the Financial Institutions Group, in Norwich.
