Two Western Australian cheerleading groups are performing together on Telethon for the first time with all-abilities athletes.

Cosmic Empire Allstars and West Coast Fury have combined to form CosmicFury, an all-abilities cheerleading team set to perform at Western Australia's Telethon this weekend. It will be the first time the two groups have performed together on the Telethon stage with all-abilities athletes included.

The squad ranges in age from five to 35 and has been training to showcase dance routines and choreography across the broadcast. Eleven-year-old Charlee Hosking, who was a 2024 Little Telethon Star, is returning to perform alongside her cheer squad. Charlee suffered a brain tumour at age two. "I love it like a lot," Charlee said of cheerleading. "I love the friendships I make, the music, and how my coaches make it so inclusive for everyone."

Charlee's mother, Sharnee Hosking, described Telethon as a core childhood memory growing up in Western Australia, and said seeing her daughter perform on the broadcast takes it to another level. "Telethon is an organisation that is very close to our hearts," she said. "Without their support, many children and families would be without vital resources."

West Coast Fury coach Jenn Warhurst emphasised that the opportunity represents far more than five minutes of television exposure for the athletes involved.
