Transport for Wales introduces temporary autumn timetable changes

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 9 Oct, 12:19 · Archive

Transport for Wales is introducing temporary timetable changes on North Wales rail services from October to December to improve reliability during leaf-fall season.

Transport for Wales and Network Rail are introducing temporary timetable changes on North Wales services from 10 October to 4 December to improve reliability during the leaf-fall season.

The Conwy Valley line between Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog and the Wrexham to Bidston line are among the services affected. On the Conwy Valley line, trains will leave Blaenau Ffestiniog slightly earlier than usual and journeys will take two to three minutes longer. On the Wrexham to Bidston line, most services will start and terminate at Wrexham General, though four peak-time services will be protected and allowed to continue through to Wrexham Central where possible. No rail replacement services will run between Wrexham General and Wrexham Central.

Colin Lea, Planning and Performance Director at Transport for Wales, said the changes 'play an important role in helping us deliver a more reliable and consistent service during the autumn months, when trains are most affected by leaf fall'. The organisation included the changes in journey planners twelve weeks in advance. Martin Taylor, Chief Infrastructure Officer for Network Rail Wales and Borders, said the early planning and close working with industry partners would 'manage safety, risk, minimise disruption and keep services running reliably throughout the autumn period'. Passengers are being encouraged to check their journeys before travelling.
