The Tapas Room opens second site at Wandsworth

Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 8 Oct, 09:37 · Archive

The Tapas Room, a Tooting restaurant and wine bar, has opened a second site at Wandsworth's New Acres development.

The Tapas Room has opened its second site at New Acres in Wandsworth, a build-to-rent neighbourhood developed by Legal & General. The venue, designed by Studio InPlace, combines a deli, bottle shop, tapas restaurant and wine bar in a single space, blending dining and socialising in a relaxed setting.

The restaurant was founded by Justin Wyatt-Smith and Jodie Houlihan, who built a loyal following from a small corner unit in Tooting's Broadway Market before expanding to this new location.

The design centres around a long, curved bar made of stained solid oak and oak veneer, topped in brushed stainless steel. The open kitchen and bar invite guests to watch as jamón is sliced or vermouth is poured. The space transitions from deli by day to wine bar by night, with a herringbone klompie brick floor marking the entrance and a microcement finish defining the restaurant area.

Mr Wyatt-Smith and Ms Houlihan said the expansion was important to protect the character of their original venue. 'With our second site, we wanted to build on what people already love about The Tapas Room while creating a space where everything is on show and our guests feel part of the action,' they said. 'We want everyone who walks through the door to feel genuinely welcomed, arriving as guests and leaving feeling like friends.'
