The Grand York has been named UK Independent Hotel of the Year in the Over 50 Rooms category at the Independent Hotel Show Awards. The awards, held earlier this week at Olympia London, celebrate excellence and innovation across the UK's independent hotel sector, recognising outstanding hotels, rising stars in hospitality and quality design.

The Grand was one of just five hotels shortlisted in its category following hundreds of nominations. The hotel, housed in one of York's most iconic buildings, offers 207 rooms and a range of luxury amenities. The awards were judged by a panel of leading figures from the hospitality sector, including senior representatives from The AA, the Institute of Hospitality, Boutique Hotelier, PoB Hotels, and Hospitality Action.

Adam Dyke, general manager of The Grand, said: 'It's such an honour to have been shortlisted alongside the brilliant hotels in our category and even more so to take home the award for Independent Hotel of the Year.' He added that the award was 'a credit to the whole team, who work incredibly hard every single day, and a testament to the strength of Yorkshire hospitality'.
