Sixteen homeowners in Georgia have filed a complaint accusing D.R. Horton of selling them houses with defective plumbing systems that began leaking years after purchase.
Sixteen homeowners in the Stonewood Creek subdivision near Dallas, Georgia have filed a complaint with the American Arbitration Association accusing D.R. Horton of selling them houses with defective plumbing systems. The complaint was filed on 22 December 2025. All the homes were built by D.R. Horton and contain cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) pipes manufactured by Uponor Inc.
The homeowners say the pipes began leaking approximately four years after they moved in. Matthew Ardis, who purchased his home in the subdivision in 2019, said the pipes have leaked repeatedly. 'I stopped counting somewhere in the teens for a little while because they were coming one after the other, day after day,' Ardis said. He described his home as looking 'like Swiss cheese inside' from the damage.
Ardis said D.R. Horton bears responsibility for the defects. 'I'm realistic that as a homeowner, there's going to be repairs, but nothing to this extent,' he said. 'They have the responsibility to provide me with a livable home.' The homeowners said the cost to repair the leaks has been significant.
Other homeowners in the subdivision have reported similar problems. Rosemary Pastula said the situation has left her in constant anxiety. 'We're just waiting,' she said. 'It's like a time bomb. I'm a nervous wreck all the time, wondering when it's going to hit the fan.' Yazmin Roman said the leaks have altered her daily routines and deterred her from leaving home.
