The RSPCA is appealing for adopters across Hampshire after recording 114 multi-animal rescue cases this year.
The RSPCA is appealing for 'extra-special adopters' across Hampshire as it faces a surge in multi-animal rescue cases. So far this year, 114 cases involving 10 or more animals at a single address have been recorded in the county, nearly matching the 116 total for all of last year. Many of the animals have complex behavioural and medical needs.
Jo Rowland, chief executive for the RSPCA, said: 'We are struggling and we urgently need help. Our frontline officers are finding dozens, even hundreds of animals in need at single addresses.' She added that the charity was receiving support from other animal charities and RSPCA branches but that all were 'under immense strain'.
The RSPCA is working with Inspiring Vet Care to rehabilitate animals and support rehoming during its annual Adoptober campaign. Rowland said: 'We need to get pets out of our centres and into loving homes so we can continue to rescue.' She encouraged people to contact animal charities if they or someone they knew was struggling with the numbers of animals in their household.
The RSPCA Ashley Heath Animal Centre in Ringwood currently has several animals looking for homes, including two cats and three dogs.
