Personal injury attorney Sam Aguiar has installed about 60 motivational billboards around Louisville since December 2024.

Sam Aguiar, a personal injury attorney since 2008, decided in December 2024 to put up motivational billboards around Louisville. He designed the messages himself and sent them to his billboard representative, asking for them to be put up before he changed his mind. 'I know it sounds a little crazy,' he said.

Aguiar said the plan was to make the messages simple so they would resonate with people going through different circumstances. The messages included 'Believe in yourself,' 'Good vibes only today' and 'Stay strong.' Since December, he has put up about 60 billboards in high-traffic areas around Louisville.

The response was immediate. More than 2,000 people have reached out through phone calls, emails, texts and social media. Aguiar received messages from trauma nurses who said the billboards near hospitals helped them prepare for tough shifts, a cancer patient who drove from out of town for chemotherapy sessions, emergency medical technicians, teachers and single mothers. One billboard near the fairgrounds references a social media trend. 'I figured if you can't beat them, join them,' Aguiar said.
