North East indie band Young Rebel Set will perform a homecoming show at Middlesbrough Town Hall on December 19.
North East indie band Young Rebel Set will round off 2024 with a Christmas homecoming gig at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Saturday, December 19. The band, formed in Stockton in 2007, built a loyal UK and European following with indie rock and folk-influenced emotive songwriting. Their albums Curse Our Love and Crocodile produced fan favourites including If I Was, Lion's Mouth and Measure of a Man.
Following the death of frontman Matthew Chipchase in 2019, the band's future was uncertain. A 2024 memorial performance in Stockton sparked the reunion and began a new chapter. The band said the response since getting back together has been overwhelming, and they described the hometown show as 'a proper Christmas celebration' with people and places where it all started for them.
Young Rebel Set have returned to European touring and performed at SXSW London this year. They are continuing work on their third album and have been developing new music behind the scenes. The band said they may perform a couple of new songs alongside old favourites at the Middlesbrough show, and are planning to release new material next year.
