The Gazette's Essex's Cutest Pets competition crowned Arnie the miniature schnauzer, Luna the tortoiseshell cat, and Teddy as winners from over 250 entries.
The Gazette's Essex's Cutest Pets competition attracted more than 250 entries from across Essex, including Southend, Clacton and Chelmsford. Vet Charlotte Mayne, senior vet and practice principal at The Mayne Veterinary Clinic in Bergholt Road, judged the competition and described it as a 'heartwarming experience'. Ms Mayne said choosing the winners was extremely difficult because there were so many adorable entries, and that she made her final choices based on what 'personally caught my eye' through expressions, charm and personality.
Arnie the miniature schnauzer won the cutest dog category from more than 80 entries. His owner Aimee Alexander, from Chelmsford, said the two-year-old weighs only 2.7kg and loves howling along to music. Ms Mayne said: 'I chose little Arnie because something about his face just captured my heart, what an absolutely delightful little chap.' Luna the tortoiseshell cat, aged seven, won the cutest cat category. Owner Teresa Le-Blanc, from Harwich, said Luna loves cuddles and is a 'hide and seek queen'. The winners received luxury food hampers supplied by Marks Tey Discount Pet Foods.
