Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 10 Oct, 20:48 · Archive

Oxfordshire manufacturers can learn Toyota's lean manufacturing techniques through the Made Smarter South East programme.

Oxfordshire manufacturers are being offered the chance to learn from Toyota's lean manufacturing expertise through the Made Smarter South East programme. The government-backed technology adoption scheme aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in improving productivity and efficiency. The course, delivered in partnership with the Toyota Lean Management Centre (TLMC), will be a two-day programme focused on process improvement, waste reduction and productivity gains.

Jez Heys, technology adoption specialist at Made Smarter South East, said: 'Manufacturers need to understand their processes, where the waste is and where the biggest opportunities for improvement lie.' Steve Nelson, a coach at the Toyota Lean Management Centre, said: 'There has been so much enthusiasm and engagement from the delegates who attended the events in Buckinghamshire and Kent.'

The programme follows successful deliveries in Buckinghamshire and Kent, with Made Smarter South East now exploring opportunities to expand across the wider region. Made Smarter South East is delivered by Surrey County Council in partnership with 11 local authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships, including Enterprise Oxfordshire. The scheme offers SMEs access to expert advice, digital roadmaps, leadership and skills development, internships and grant funding to support technology adoption.
