Porsche recalls 77 sports cars over faulty wheel nuts

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 26 Oct, 22:31 · Archive

Porsche Cars Australia is recalling 77 vehicles from 2024 due to centre-lock wheel nuts that may fracture and cause wheels to detach.

Porsche Cars Australia is recalling 77 examples of its 911 and 718 sports cars made in 2024 because of a manufacturing defect affecting centre-lock wheel nuts. The nuts may fracture, causing wheels to loosen and detach from the vehicle whilst driving.

The recall affects the 911 Carrera GTS, GT3, GT3 RS, S/T, Turbo and Turbo S from the 992 generation, as well as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Spyder RS from the 982 generation. According to the official recall notice, if a wheel detaches whilst driving it could result in loss of vehicle stability and control, increasing the risk of accidents that could injure vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, or damage property.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Porsche and asked to arrange an appointment with their nearest authorised Porsche Centre to have the work carried out free of charge. This is the second recall for the 911 in recent months; 11 vehicles made in 2023 were recalled in March 2025 due to a seatbelt issue.
