The Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth will no longer proceed with its redevelopment as part of the Mid Wales Growth Deal, losing £25 million in funding. CAT said the decision reflects that the scale, timetable and funding requirements of the scheme were 'no longer the right fit' for its evolving plans. The organisation has appointed new interim leadership and said preparatory works already completed, including surveys and planning applications, have laid foundations for ongoing capital plans.

Scientists from Aberystwyth University and the University of South Wales have advanced understanding of where Stonehenge's altar stone came from. Using geological analysis, the international research team examined fragments and compared them with possible source locations. The findings ruled out several previously suggested areas and point instead to Scotland, though searches in the Orcadian Basin in north-east Scotland have not yet found a match.

Two male drivers were hospitalised after a collision on the A470 near Trawsfynydd in North Wales on Wednesday, 4 November. One driver was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with minor injuries, whilst the other was taken to hospital in Stoke where he remains with serious injuries. The crash involved a white Ford Transit tipper and a grey Toyota Aygo at the junction of the A470 and the A4212 at 6.43am. North Wales Police's Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand to contact police.

Two Welsh heritage railways have been reunited under common ownership after nearly 30 years apart. The Vale of Rheidol Railway completed its acquisition of the Brecon Mountain Railway on 2 November. The two railways last operated together between 1988 and 1996 and will retain their individual names and visitor experiences.
