Chesterfield manager Paul Cook has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association for his behaviour during his side's 4-1 loss at Newport County last Friday. Cook was sent off at half-time by referee Zac Kennard-Kettle with Chesterfield already trailing 3-0. He has been charged with improper behaviour and/or abusive and insulting language towards a match official both before and after his dismissal, and must respond by 9 November.

A 79-year-old man from the Ilkeston area died in a head-on crash with a van in West Hallam, Derbyshire, on Wednesday afternoon. The collision involved a blue Ford Ecosport and a brown Mercedes van on High Lane West at about 1.15pm. The van driver, a man in his 50s, remained at the scene and is assisting police with investigations. The road closed for several hours following the incident.

Derby County forward Sammie Szmodics has been ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury that requires surgery, after limping off during Tuesday's 4-0 home defeat by Norwich City. James Corlett, an 18-year-old from Swadlincote in Derbyshire, went missing after a night out in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, on 29 October. His body was found over the weekend. Hathersage swimming pool in the Peak District, built in 1936, is to receive a £400,000 upgrade to meet modern standards. A man suffered serious injuries after being stabbed in the chest in Darley Park, Derby, at around 12:45am on Saturday, 10 October. He was approached by two men before the assault and was taken to hospital for treatment. Derbyshire police are appealing for witnesses, describing the attackers as white men of slim build wearing all black clothing and grey and black Nike Air Force 1 trainers.
