Police are appealing for information after an assault during a fight involving a group of teenage girls outside a care home in Pickering, North Yorkshire. The incident occurred around 3pm on Tuesday, October 27, on the A169 Whitby Road, and the victim sustained minor injuries. Officers are particularly keen to trace a member of the public who intervened and two others who assisted the victim home.

Yorkshire Cancer Research hosted a charity fashion show on November 4 at its new superstore in York, featuring 15 models from across the region wearing outfits sourced from the charity's shops. York Art Gallery will launch Interwoven: Stories of Women, Textiles and Art on 5 February 2027, running until 6 June. HelloFresh has closed its Banbury distribution centre in Oxfordshire, affecting 271 workers. North Yorkshire Police made 14 arrests and seized weapons and drugs during a crackdown across York and Selby on Wednesday, November 4, as part of its monthly Operation Tornado. Officers executed four warrants, recovering cannabis, suspected Class A drugs, two knives, four swords and an illegally owned air rifle. A 32-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were detained in a hotel room with around 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs, about £1,000 in cash and two knives; both have been charged with drug supply offences and possession of an offensive weapon. Three of the area's most wanted offenders wanted for recall to prison were also arrested, and a lock-up in West Yorkshire was found to contain around £150,000 of suspected stolen property linked to the theft of an HGV trailer from Selby.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for help to identify two men in connection with separate thefts in the county. One incident took place at Tesco on Goodramgate in York city centre on October 13. The other occurred at The Foundry Project in Harrogate in the early hours of Sunday, September 27, when a jacket was stolen. Anyone who recognises either individual is urged to contact police.

York City Football Club has teamed up with Shush Films for the release of Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint, a Christmas film set and filmed in York, arriving in cinemas on 6 November. Directed by Jack Spring, the film follows a reclusive model soldier painter who despises Christmas and is sentenced to community service at a retirement home, where he becomes involved in a production of A Christmas Carol. The film features a cast including John Bradley, Celia Imrie, Richard E. Grant, Adjoa Andoh, Sophia Di Martino, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Karl Pilkington.

Campaigners fighting Government plans to accommodate 1,200 single adult male asylum seekers at the former RAF Linton-on-Ouse base near Easingwold have accused immigration minister Anna Turley of being 'out of her depth'. The Linton-on-Ouse Action Group criticised Ms Turley following a House of Commons debate, saying her comments demonstrate a lack of understanding of the site's location and calling for her replacement. The village has approximately 600 adult residents and 100 children, meaning the proposed centre would accommodate twice as many asylum seekers as the village has adult residents.
